Web accessability
Preamble
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona is committed to making the information, programmes and activities on its websites accessible to as many users as possible, in accordance with Royal Decree 1112/2018, of 7 September, on the accessibility of websites and applications for mobile devices in the public sector.
This declaration applies to the https://www.uab.cat website. The subdomains of this website may have their own accessibility statements.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with Royal Decree 1112/2018, of 7 September, due to the exceptions and lack of conformity of the aspects indicated below.
Actions carried out
To achieve this objective, the UAB has relied on compliance with the Accessibility Guidelines for Web Content 2.1 established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Some of the functionalities implemented on the UAB website to allow the accessibility of its contents are:
- The HTML and CSS code used conforms to formal grammars to ensure the correct display of content in different browsers.
- We have implemented, at the beginning of each page, a section that allows you to jump directly to the sections accessible through the keyboard or screen readers that allow you to navigate directly to the section of interest.
- The pages have a clear structure, with headings in each section that allow you to scroll directly to the section of interest.
- The font sizes have been defined with relative units so that the font size can be increased or decreased from the browser options. Text size enlargement up to 300% can be made without text being cut off.
- Most of the web can be navigated using the keyboard.
- You can browse most of the web with a screen reader.
Non-accessible content
It may be that some specific contents of the https://www.uab.cat website, published after 20 September 2018, do not meet the requirements stipulated in Royal Decree 1112/2018 as a result of editing errors on some website, both in HTML content and in final documents.
With regard to content within the scope of the applicable legislation, there may be office files in PDF or other formats published after 20 September 2018 that do not meet all accessibility requirements:
- Some pages and attachments are not clearly written.
- Some tables don't have a header row.
- Some pages have insufficient color contrast.
- Some headings are not consistent.
- Some images don't have alt text.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This accessibility statement was updated on 16 September 2020. The method used has been a self-evaluation carried out by the UAB and it is planned that there will be periodic external evaluations.

Optional content
We continue to carry out audit and consultancy work to adapt possible disagreements and achieve full accessibility to the website that allows its use to anyone, regardless of their abilities.
The UAB's commitment to accessibility
The UAB website has been created with the aim of facilitating universal access to all people who consult it, regardless of their physical, sensory or intellectual capacities, and the technical context in which they use it (type of device, software, connection speed, environmental conditions, etc.).
To this end, work is being done with the aim of adapting the entire web to the recommendations of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and eliminating the barriers that hinder access to information and communication. These recommendations are specified in the accessibility guidelines of the WCAG 2.1 website. The UAB's commitment is to achieve compliance with the 'Double-A' (AA) level of conformity, as required of public administrations by European and national legislation.
Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 October 2016 lays down the rules required of Member States to ensure that all websites and mobile applications in the public sector, regardless of the device used to access them, comply with the accessibility requirements set out in EN 301 549 v2.1.2 (of August 2018), accessibility requirements for public procurement of ICT products and services in Europe.
The EN 301 549 v2.1.2 standard is mainly based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, of August 2018. However, the standard also has other additional, mandatory and conditional requirements.
The directive is mandatory but is not directly applicable, which is why Royal Decree 1112/2018, of 7 September, on the accessibility of websites and applications for mobile devices in the public sector, has been developed at the state level, which develops its scope and minimum requirements.
