Electoral Processes
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona holds different types of elections based on the provisions of the UAB Statutes.
These elections may be open to the entire university community or just a specific sector.
Elections at the UAB can be within the university community, and within the corresponding governing body.
Other types of elections are also held: union representative bodies of the Technical, Management and Administrative and Service Staff (PTGAS) and Academic Staff (PA) or Student Councils (CE).
Elections open to the whole university community
- Election of the Rector
- Election of members of the Senate
- Election of members of the school or faculty council
- Election of members of the department council
- Election of members of the research institute or UAB research centre councils
Important:
Elections for Dean of Faculty or Director of School.
Managed by the dean's office or management of the corresponding centre. Regulated by the corresponding Local Electoral Board.
From the time that the Law on Spanish Universities (LOSU) comes into force, on a transitional basis, these elections are regulated based on the provisions of the electoral regulations for elections to rector.
Elections within the corresponding governing body
Elections in the Senate:
- Members elected to specific Senate committees
- Members elected to the Governing Council
- Ombuds Office
Elections in the Governing Council:
- Members elected to committees delegated by the Governing Council
- Representatives of other bodies
Elections in the Faculty or School Council:
- Members elected to the Standing Committee (in cases where this is regulated)
- Members elected to committees delegated by the Faculty or School Council (in cases where this is regulated)
Elections in the Department Council:
- Department directors
- Members elected to the Executive Committee (in cases where this is regulated)
- Members elected to committees delegated by the Department Council (in cases where this is regulated)
Elections is a University Research Institute or UAB Research Centre:
- Directors of University Research Institutes or UAB Research Centres
- Representatives of other committees and/or bodies (in cases where this is regulated)
Elections held using the e-voting system
- Election of the Rector
- Election of members of the Senate
- Election of Dean of Faculty or Director of School
- Election of members of the faculty or school council
- Elections of union representatives for technical, management, administrative and services staff (PTGAS) and academic staff (PA)

New UAB Statutes
On 13 March the Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia (DOGC) published the new UAB Statutes, that regulate the university's activity and wich came into force on 14 March 2025.
The regulations mentioned in this Electronic Office are currently being revised and updated because of the new statutes.
