Electronic voting

What is an electronic vote?

Electronic voting consists of casting votes by electronic means, as opposed to traditional methods such as in-person paper voting and postal voting.

What types of electronic votes are used?

Electronic voting is carried out remotely: Voting via any computer or mobile device (phone, tablet, console, etc.) with an internet connection.

What are the main advantages of an electronic vote?

  • More comfortable: You do not need to go to the polling station on election day.
  • Freer: You can vote in advance from any device with an internet connection.
  • Easier: The voting platform guides you throughout the entire voting process and prevents unintentional errors when voting.
  • Safer: because the electoral process is completely transparent and allows for third-party auditing.

The electronic vote at the UAB

The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona participates in the electronic voting project promoted by Catalan public universities.

The electronic voting is conducted via an IT platform, common to all public universities in Catalonia, promoted by ACUP and managed from CSUC, lwhich includes security systems that guarantee the anonymity of the votes cast and provides the necessary tools for voters to verify that their vote has been validly cast, without it being possible to establish a link between the voter and their vote. The e-Vot platform is hosted on the CSUC'S  e-Administration cluster and is highly accessible.

From this electronic electoral headquarters  you can consult the census, access the e-ballot boxes and view your voting receipt slip.

The electronic voting system is currently used for the following types of elections:
